Voting Information - King County

In an effort to advocate the voicing of one’s opinion and the right to vote in a democracy, Seattle.net and King County Elections has teamed up to spread the word. Below we’ve provided links to information on how to register to vote and how to take part in the county’s ever popular program “Voting By Mail”.

Registration requirements
To register to vote in the state of Washington, you must be:
• A citizen of the United States
• A legal resident of Washington state
• At least 18 years old by election day
• Not presently denied your voting rights due to a felony conviction.

In the state of Washington, you do not have to register by political party or declare political party membership to vote in the state's regular primaries or general elections.

Voting By Mail
King County voters overwhelmingly prefer to vote by mail. In fact, anywhere between 70 and 80 percent of ballots cast in any given election are cast by mail. Voting by mail is convenient; it saves you time and gives you the opportunity to make an informed decision.

King County is working behind the scenes now to make the move to all-mail voting in February 2009. Why wait until then?

Try it now, you might like it.
