What better place, then the water rich lands of the Northwest, for an ornery ogre to make his debut? The master minds behind the all-new stage production of Shrek the Musical, knew quite well that Seattle was the perfect locale to introduce the world’s most beloved ogre to the stage. This summer the 5th Avenue Theatre is making history by hosting the world premier of the first ever musical to star a wisecracking Donkey, a vertically impaired prince and a Scottish ogre.

Shrek the Musical is an entirely new musical based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek!, as well as the Oscar winning DreamWorks animated film Shrek. Developed by a creative team comprised of the most innovative minds in the theatre world today, Shrek the Musical follows the events and characters of the first Shrek film. Enhancing the storyline of the film and book, Shrek the Musical goes deeper into the history, background and story of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey and all those other loveable fairytale characters.

Following in the tradition of its cinematic counterpart, Shrek the Musical is comprised of wit and humor that appeals to audiences of all ages.
